Identity

Brand

A brand is a system for being recognized, understood and remembered.

For organizations that need a clearer position and a visual system capable of carrying it consistently.

Brand as a material system

What it solves

When the idea is clear but the expression is not, every touchpoint starts making a different promise.

For organizations whose work has outgrown how they present themselves: new ventures preparing to launch, established teams whose identity has drifted, and cultural or community organizations that need to be read clearly by very different audiences.

Brand work begins with position: what the organization stands for, who it serves and what should feel unmistakably its own. Without that, an identity is decoration.

From there I build the system that carries the position — mark, typography, colour, image direction, voice and the rules that connect them. The aim is a structure that can be recognized in a single detail and extended by people who were not in the room when it was made.

Expression and practicality are designed together. An identity has to feel distinct, and it also has to work in a presentation, a social post, a sign and an email signature. I design for both from the start rather than adapting afterwards.

  • 01The work has evolved; the brand has not. What you do now is more considered than what people see. The identity still describes an earlier version of the organization.
  • 02Every touchpoint looks slightly different.Materials are made by different people at different times, and nothing holds them together. Each new piece starts from scratch.
  • 03It is hard to say what makes you distinct. The team describes the organization in different ways, so the visual identity has nothing clear to express.
  • 04A launch or change is coming.A new offer, name, space or audience needs a considered presence from the first day, not a patch on the old one.

How we get there

03 stages

01

Position

I start with conversations, existing materials and the context the organization works in: audiences, peers, history and ambition. Together we define what the brand must hold and what it can leave behind.

02

Build

The identity is developed as a system rather than a logo. Mark, type, colour, image and voice are tested against real applications from the start, so decisions are made on how the brand will actually be used.

03

Apply

The system is translated into the materials the organization needs first, then documented so others can extend it without diluting it.

Made to be used

Not left in a deck

Ways to work together

Scoped to the actual need

The engagement should fit the moment—not force every brief into the same package.

01

Focused intensive

A short, concentrated engagement to clarify position and direction before a larger investment: a brand audit, a positioning workshop or a single identity direction.

For a clear diagnostic or direction

02

Defined project

A complete brand or rebrand with a clear scope, timeline and set of deliverables, from strategy through guidelines.

For launches, rebrands and moments of growth

03

Ongoing creative partnership

Continued creative direction after launch: campaigns, new applications and stewardship of the system as the organization grows.

For teams who need a senior creative partner

What changes

  • A clear position the team can articulate
  • An identity that reads the same across every touchpoint
  • Standards others can apply without starting from scratch
  • A presence that reflects the organization as it is now
